Inuyasha and Kagome

Kagome had been back home now for almost a month. In their last battle with Naraku Inuyasha of course ran off to protect Kikyo from being injured, leaving Kagome defenseless. Naraku had tried to kill Kikyo when Inuyasha wasn’t looking, he tried and succeeded. Inuyasha of course grieving for Kikyo become enraged, until Naraku stated this: “Yes Inuyasha, grieve for her, for now the young miko girl, Kagome is now defenseless. Don’t worry Inuyasha she won’t be killed but mutilated.” Without a word Inuyasha ran off to protect Kagome. He arrived in time to see Naraku deflect one of Kagome’s sacred arrows and send it back to her, it hit her square in the back. Kagome turned, a tear traveling down her cheek and a weak smile toward Inuyasha and fell. “Kagome!” Inuyasha cried “You’ll die now Naraku, you bastard!” Incredulously Inuyasha had turned to full demon mode and charged at Naraku. Not ready for the attack Naraku barely had time to defend himself. “Inuyasha your attempts are futile you won’t defeat me!” Snarled Naraku “The girl is dead because you failed to protect her.” Continued Naraku. “Hang on Kagome just a little longer…” and with that thought fresh in his mind Inuyasha struck and killed Naraku. Forgetting there ever was a woman named Kikyo, and forgetting about the jewel shards Naraku possessed, Inuyasha darted to Kagome’s side. She was barely alive, but he had hope, if he could get her back to her time then she might have a chance to survive.

     Back home and safe once more Kagome sat on her couch recovering from her almost fatal wound. It had been a month and still she hadn’t seen Inuyasha. Somehow word got out that Kagome had been shot, and of course everyone came to see her. Hojo of course came about everyday to have lunch with her and to help her make up her school work.

     Back in the Feudal Era Inuyasha paced back and forth in front of the well, Shippo right at his side. He was deciding if he should go and see Kagome, he didn’t want to face her, he felt like he had let her down. He brought Kikyo back to the village where she could rest in peace; also he gathered the rest of the jewel shards from Naraku. About a week later Inuyasha was just about to jump into the well to go and see Kagome, when she came out the well herself. “K-Kagome!!” Spluttered Inuyasha “Why’d you come back your still not well…”
“We need to find the rest of the jewel shards don’t we?” She stated smiling weakly.
“I already found them Kagome.”
“Well I can visit with everyone, then.” She said. Kagome went to get up out of the well and she tripped. Inuyasha caught her and held her close.
“I’m glad your alright Kagome, I could have lost you.” Inuyasha whispered
“It’s alright Inuyasha, Kikyo needed you.” Kagome stated a tear silently rolling down her cheek.

     Back in kaede’s hut Kagome and her friends sat around a campfire and ate lunch, celebrating Kagome’s quick recovery. Soon after, Kouga showed up of course blaming Inuyasha for the whole thing. It ended in Kagome sitting Inuyasha for trying to strangle Kouga and Kouga having Kagome in his arms, however much she didn’t want to be there. Inuyasha in the meanwhile kept growing more and more jealous that Kouga held Kagome in his arms.  “Kagome I will never stop loving you, and unlike that mutt I won’t let you get hurt ever, and that is my promise.”
“Kouga that’s sweet but Inuyasha won’t let me get hurt it was my fault that I couldn’t deflect the arrow quick enough.” Stated Kagome. Through his heated rage Inuyasha sat up and realized Kagome was sticking up for him. “Whatever, I will protect you no matter what Kagome, please be my mate.” Kouga kept pursuing the matter. Needless to say Kagome didn’t reply to that. After Kouga had left Kagome’s friends Sango and Miroku entered. Miroku still being the Lecherous monk he was when Kagome first met him. Sango had agreed to give Miroku a chance and well he actually took it. Still lecherous at times but all the while he grew more respectable of women. Inuyasha sat in a corner still sulking from the day’s event with Kouga. Kagome noticed Inuyasha sitting there, she decided not to go over. She visited with her friends for a bit to see how they faired through the grueling battle with Naraku. They recounted the events when they were actually conscious. Sango told her how Kirara suffered a fatal wound to her belly, but she will be okay. Kagome felt bad that she couldn’t have done more to help her friends. “I’m sorry I wish I could have helped you more.” Kagome said looking down at her knees. “Kagome you were injured you needn’t not worry about it.” Sango said to her.

     Kagome spent the next two weeks recovering from her injuries in the Feudal Era. Surprisingly Inuyasha was always by her side. Kagome one day asked Inuyasha how Kikyo was; surprised, Inuyasha explained of her death, he had a sad look in his eyes while recounting the events. Kagome went to the hot spring with Sango to have a small day of relaxation. Kagome explained to Sango what and how a spa worked in her time. “I sure would like to go to one of those.” Sango thought out loud. Kagome just smiled and returned to their conversation. Nearby Miroku and Inuyasha were keeping guard. Kagome saw a snake in the water and screamed. Pulling out his tetsusaiga Inuyasha ran in only to be sat harshly by Kagome. Now back to her full strength Kagome returned home. She thought that would be the last time she ever saw any of them.

     After awhile back at home, Kagome was getting used to life without the others again, although she dearly missed Inuyasha with all her heart. After about two months back home Kagome was all caught up with her school, with help from Hojo. She returned one day from school to see a bright red kimono lying on her bed. Inuyasha was taking a bath; Kagome’s brother was with Inuyasha. Kagome went downstairs to grab a snack. She was still astonished at the fact Inuyasha was here, what she didn’t know was that Sango and Miroku were there as well. Kagome walked into the kitchen questioning if she really saw his kimono, when she saw Sango and Miroku drinking tea at her kitchen table. “Sango, Miroku?!?” “Kagome we figured out how to time travel here as well!” Sango said excitedly, with Miroku beaming at her side. “How did you, how is it that you…?” Stuttered Kagome. She released a sigh of exasperation, the whole thing was confusing her more and more every second, she relented and made herself a cup of tea as well. An hour or so later Inuyasha came down, although he was only wearing jeans. “Inuyasha!” Kagome gasped she ran up to him and hugged him. “Kagome…” Inuyasha said a relieved tone in his voice. They stayed like that until a small cough broke them apart. Blushing Kagome made them all lunch. Later that night Kagome took all of them out to show them all her world, her time. Sango was pleased with all the wonderful fashions, Miroku of course crying at the sight of all the girls in Kagome’s time, and Inuyasha who is used to all of this. Kagome led them to a park, a place where Inuyasha had never been before. The park held a small playground for the children and a beautiful water fountain for the viewing pleasures of the older crowd. They all sat on the edge of the fountain, conversing with each other sharing the thoughts of what they had just witnessed. Kagome was being bombarded by questions from Sango and Miroku when quite suddenly Shippo appeared from no where. “Kagome!” The young fox demon cried. “Shippo!” Kagome exclaimed just as happy to see the little fox demon. “Kagome! We all figured out how to travel to your time, I lost you guys though; I had to follow your scent here. “Well I’m glad you could find us Shippo.” Stated Kagome.
     
     The next day after waking everyone from a comfortable sleep, Kagome made them all breakfast. Sango and Miroku thanked her graciously for the food, and Inuyasha being his old self again just greedily ate and said nothing about the taste. “I’m taking Sango shopping today, sp please stay here you two and don’t get in my mothers way.” And with that Kagome and Sango were off. “Kagome you didn’t mention this to me last night well I figured if you are going to be traveling back and for the between times you might like a set of clothes for you here.” Kagome stated with a beaming smile. They went to one of Kagome’s favourtie clothing stores, they found Sango a skirt some jeans and quite a few shirts. Also they both got new bathing suits. With Sango not knowing anything of Kagome’s plan, Kagome surprised her by taking her to an actual spa. Sango remembering the conversation that they had earlier back in the Feudal Era graciously thanked Kagome for her wonderful surprise.

     Back home Inuyasha and Miroku sat in the Kitchen conversing matters of how to “surprise” the girls when they arrived home. “It’s the least we could do for them after all Kagome has done for us and with Sango’s help no doubt.” Pushed Miroku getting a little annoyed with Inuyasha’s hottie attitude. “Fine then I’ll make Kagome’s dinner and you Sango’s. The only thing is we don’t know how to cook with the instruments in this time.” Inuyasha pointed out, partially annoyed. “We don’t, but Kagome’s mother does, we can ask her for help, well you can because I don’t know her all that well yet.” And with Miroku finalizing the conversation they went off in search of Kagome’s mother.

Kagome and Sango made their way back home with all of the days purchases, they both felt very refreshed. “Kagome, do you think Miroku loves me?” Sango asked out of blue. “What? Sango of course he does, he has gotten better with lecherous deeds.” She replied. “He had a small talk with me the other night when we are all sleeping.” *flashback*
“Kagome, do you think Sango loves me?” Miroku asked her. “Of course Miroku, I can tell she does.” Answered Kagome. *end flashback*
Kagome recounted this event with Sango. They arrived home about 10 minuets later to a wonderful smell coming in from the kitchen. They rounded the corner to see Miroku and Inuyasha in modern day clothes with aprons on (both pink aprons) cleaning the dishes. “Wow” Both the girls said in almost hushed tones at the same time. Both dinners were different, one a steak with some more wonderful foods, and the other a fish cooked to perfection, with the most delicious looking entrées. Inuyasha took Kagome and led her to her dinner; Miroku did the same for Sango.  Kagome’s dinner was the steak, Inuyasha new it was her most favourite. He had also placed a small flower beside her plate. Next to Sango’s plate was a small invitation from Miroku to her, it read:
Dear Sango,
Please meet me at the sacred tree after dinner, please come alone, I need to speak with you. I hope you don’t reject this note as another of my endless attempts of devious deeds.
     Miroku

Sango read the note over about three times before she giggled with glee, she handed the note to Kagome and Kagome too giggled. Inuyasha was wondering what they were giggling about but he decided not to ask. Through the dinner the men (Inuyasha and Miroku) catered to the girls every need, they were trying to say thank you to the girls, the message did get through when Miroku bowed and thanked them both for everything. Inuyasha just thanked them, in his usual hottie attitude. Although throughout dinner Kagome couldn’t help but wonder how Miroku had persuaded Inuyasha into doing this.

     Kagome took the little flower with her to her room, she put it in a small vase with some water and but on her bedside table. When Inuyasha came in later, about four hours after Kagome had gone up. Kagome had a rather big test the nest day and she tried studying the best she could, but of course the day’s events of shopping and relaxing had made her quite tired. *How she got tired from relaxing I don’t know.* Her head lay on an open book, and her pencil was still in her hand. Inuyasha tried not to wake her; he picked her up and laid her gently on the bed, and he slept again on the floor.

     Sango had followed the notes directions and met Miroku at the sacred tree. She had wondered what he was going to say or do, but she soon found out. “Sango I was afraid you wouldn’t come.” Miroku stated rather happily at that fact she did show up. Sango did not reply. “I wanted you to come here to meet me Sango, I have something very important to tell you. By me being a lecherous monk I don’t think you have gotten to know my real side, the real me. Acting lecherous, I did that because I truly thought I was going to die, I pushed myself at women because I wanted a son or daughter who could carry on my name. I never thought we would kill Naraku. But, Sango when I met you, I thought you would be the one to bear me children, I might be wrong or right. I asked you here to tell you I love you Sango, and I can’t bear the thought of letting you get away because of me being a damn lecherous monk. So Sango I propose this, please be my wife, and live with me here in Kagome’s time period.”
Miroku exhaled a great relieving look lingering in his eyes. Sango didn’t know what to say, so she didn’t say anything. Although with a great effort she managed to blurt out “Ibluve you Miroku!” And she agreed to marry him and stay in Kagome’s time with him. They went to find Kagome to tell her the good news but they found her asleep on her bed and Inuyasha on her floor. They decided to wait until the next morning to tell them.

     Kagome awoke with the alarm clock, and Inuyasha woke and pulled out his sword (he had never gotten used to the clock). Miroku and Sango were at the kitchen table waiting for Inuyasha and Kagome. Kagome’s mother had already made breakfast for them all. “Kagome where is Inuyasha?” Asked Miroku almost pleadingly not wanting to keep the good news to himself. “He is upstairs changing his clothes; he is actually coming to school with me today.” She replied, baffled at why Miroku had asked her that question. Soon enough Inuyasha came down stairs, Miroku sighed heavily with relief. “Kagome, Inuyasha Sango and I are going to be married.” Stated a very “excited” Miroku. “Wow, Miroku where will you be living?” Kagome questioned. “In your time Kagome.” Answered Miroku. Kagome nearly fainted; well she would have if Inuyasha hadn’t caught her. She lay limp for about ten minutes in his arms. When she awoke she had exclaimed how happy she was that they would be staying with her in her time. She however wondered what Inuyasha thought, she didn’t ask him though.

     A few days later Sango and Miroku were married, in both the Feudal Era and Kagome’s time. They had a magnificent wedding in Kagome’s time. Shippo looked so cute in his little kimono. Inuyasha of course didn’t change out of his kimono, although Kagome put his hair in a braid. He actually quite liked the fact that it was back and not in his eyes. Inuyasha had gotten mad at Kagome for putting curry in the meal the night before, of course in his usual temper he got very mad and argued with her fairly loud, and he ended up getting “Sat” by her. He felt bad that he has yelled at her, he really didn’t mean to. As he was going back to Kagome’s room that night he smelled a rather familiar scent that sent him running towards the well. “Sesshomaru” Inuyasha hissed the name as if it was something slimey he didn’t want anywhere near him. “What the hell are you doing here?” Barked Inuyasha. “Inuyasha, where is she, where is that girl your always with?” Sesshomaru asked in his usual calm but stern voice. “I don’t know why asked, I can smell her scent anyway.” He said a smile curving on his lips. Sesshomaru flew to Kagome’s room, taking her by surprise he entered with Inuyasha right behind him. Without a care in the world, and minus the fact Inuyasha was standing behind him fuming Sesshomaru began to explain why he came. “Kagome, I cannot tell you how I feel exactly, the only way I can show is you like this…” he said while walking slowly toward he grabbed her by the waste and pulled her up into his strong arms, he gently gazed into her deep brown eyes, and slowly lowered his lips to hers. They felt like two petals from a rose, Sesshomaru didn’t want to pull away but Kagome roughly pushed him away. “What are you doing?!?” She stammered. “Can’t you tell I love you Kagome.” He answered her. “You damn bastard…” was all Kagome remembered for she fainted once again. About an hour later she awoke in her bed with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru standing over her. She was bewildered that Sesshomaru was still there. “Sesshomaru? Inuyasha? Why are you here Sesshomaru, I mean still here?” Kagome asked weakly, still trying to relieve herself from the shock of the past few hours. “He won’t be here much longer Kagome he is leaving very very soon.” Inuyasha answered for Sesshomaru. “Fine I will be leaving now, but rest assured I will be back for you Kagome.” He stated with a sense of finality in his voice. “Inuyasha thank you, for that.” Said Kagome. Inuyasha said nothing back; he just sat there and gave her a nod of his head to let her know he heard her.

     Morning came quick and when Kagome awoke she saw Inuyasha sitting at the end of her bed, well he was more like sleeping. He looked so peaceful, as if nothing bad had ever happened to him before. She got out of bed and tip-toed across the floor so as not to wake him up, but his keen dog ears heard her and he awoke. With a slight of shake of his head he turned toward and growled “Mornin’.” Kagome turned around and apologized for waking him. He said he didn’t mind but she knew better. The night before with the “Sesshomaru thing” kept gnawing at Kagome’s mind; however much she didn’t want to think about she couldn’t help but to think about it. Inuyasha was also thinking about and it almost made him mad enough to turn into a full demon. He let nobody know this of course. Breakfast came and went with out so much as a word left unspoken about the night before. Sango and Miroku were let in on what had happened and Inuyasha sat and growled, somehow he felt jealous of Sesshomaru and his “conquest” to be Kagome’s. Inuyasha was battling with himself, he began feeling things that he had never felt before. You could sometimes find him with a pissed off expression on his face. Inuyasha was alone that day because Kagome had school.

     “Hojo! Thank you, this is wonderful.” Exclaimed Kagome. “It is for the full and complete recovery of you r wound Kagome.” Hojo stated excitedly, he figured if he could lure her to the roof so they could be alone together for awhile he could ask her out then. “Kagome, would you please accompany me to the roof for a small lunch?” Asked Hojo. “Sure.” Kagome answered. They reached the roof and had lunch. They talked for awhile after eating just about things in general and how the other was doing. Kagome thought she sensed a few jewel shards near by but she pushed that thought out of her mind.

     Inuyasha sat home (at Kagome’s) and grew more irritated that Kagome wasn’t home. So he decided to go and find her at her school, he changed into the clothes that Kagome had kept for him and but on the baseball cap as well, and he followed her scent to the roof. He arrived to find Hojo trying to kiss Kagome and Kagome backing up and falling over the edge (the school was having its roof reinforced so the guardrails were taken off). Inuyasha caught her in time and laid her down gently on the roof, and then he went after Hojo. “What in the world were you doing to her?!? She almost fell to her death you adulterous idiot.” Inuyasha exploded in a rage and still advancing toward Hojo he began his “Iron reaver soul stealer” attack but he was sat by Kagome. “Kagome are you alright?” Hojo said in a shaking voice running toward Kagome to see if she was alright. Inuyasha sat up and bolted after Hojo only to be yet again sat by Kagome.

     They all arrived back to Kagome’s around the same time; Kagome was carried there by Inuyasha because she could barely walk. Sango and Miroku, Kirara and Shippo arrived there a short time after Kagome and Inuyasha. Sango and Miroku were back in the Feudal Era gathering their things so they could move into Kagome’s time, Shippo was moving there as well. The only one that hadn’t decided if he was going to stay with Kagome or go was Inuyasha. Although he made his decision that night. Sesshomaru returned once again to find and take Kagome with him. He arrived at her house by climbing through her window, he wore jeans, a pair of black boots, a black muscle shirt and a jean jacket over that. Kagome had to admit he looked very very handsome. She actually knew he was coming tonight he had learned to use a phone and called her. She told Inuyasha she was going out but she never said with who. Inuyasha was just about to enter her room when he saw through a crack in the door Sesshomaru standing there studying Kagome who wore a knee length black dress and earrings. Inuyasha held his breath in sheer surprise at how beautiful Kagome looked, he had never seen her like that before, she still looked a little pale and weak though. They headed toward the door and Inuyasha ran to hide somewhere.

     Sesshomaru knew Inuyasha was following them but he did not let Kagome know. “Kagome lets go to the park.” He said “Alright.” She answered. They arrived soon and sat down by the fountain, although it was summer Kagome still was cold, Sesshomaru draped his jacket around her shoulders and pulled her close to him. Part of her was loving this, although she wished it was with the other one, the one she loved. “Kagome, I love you.” Inuyasha whispered this to himself as he sat nearby in the bushes. As he whispered this thought Sesshomaru turned around and sneered at him, then he turned to Kagome and kissed her passionately. Inuyasha hurt by this fled the bushes and went back to Kagome’s gathered his things and went to the Feudal Era, for good. Kagome said nothing after the kiss, she was so startled and exhilarated by the kiss she couldn’t speak. Sesshomaru took her back home and kissed her one last time trying to see if Inuyasha was anywhere nearby. Although through that kiss Kagome made up her mind that she would tell Inuyasha exactly how she felt, if she could find him. Kagome dressed in her pajamas then went looking for Inuyasha, she checked all of his favourite places but still couldn’t find him. She even asked Sango and Miroku if they knew where he went to but they did not know as well. Kagome grew worried with each passing moment, she thought of all the terrible things that could have happened to him but she excluded all these thoughts because she knew he could definitely take care of himself, especially if he had the tetsusaiga with him.

     Inuyasha jumped through the well back into his own time, he felt hurt and betrayed what he needed more than anything was to find that bastard Sesshomaru and kill him. Instead of Sesshomaru he found a demon and took it out on him. When Inuyasha was through with the demon he went to Kikyo’s grave site and felt a sense of closure. He then visited the hot springs and bathed and thought for a long while about what to do and where he should go. Inuyasha had no idea what to do now, he had never really noticed it before but Kagome was always there to influence his decisions. He felt completely alone, like a forgotten memory that you swore to never forget and did. He sat in the hot water thinking, reminiscing about all the times he had hurt Kagome and done nothing about it. “Dammit, you are such and idiot, she was right there in front of you, you saw it, you saw those tears, why didn’t you do anything, why couldn’t you let Kikyo go?” Inuyasha had many thoughts much like this one, but the one that was so vivid in his mind was when he had left Kagome for Kikyo, to protect her. He remembered there was her blood looking like her tears, and then he remembered there were tears more than there was her blood. “You BASTARD!!!” He screamed to the open air upsetting a few birds.

     Kagome got little to no sleep, she was up all night looking for Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku were growing angry at the fact that Inuyasha had left, and that he had once again made Kagome cry. She had tears running down her cheeks when she returned back home. She went to her bedroom and tenderly, gently hugged the little flower Inuyasha had laid beside her plate that night he made dinner for her. Sango saw this and came in to try to console her. Sango slept in Kagome’s room that night as did Miroku (he slept on the floor). They all agreed to go back into the Feudal Era and search for Inuyasha there. Kagome was last to come out of the well, it had been so long since she had been there, she really did miss it. They first went to Kaede’s hut. The old woman greeted them all with a smile. Sango and Kagome took Kirara and Miroku and Shippo were right along behind them. Kagome was the first to spot the half demon. Sango jumped off Kirara and rushed towards Inuyasha, drawing her Hiraikotsu out, Inuyasha had no time to prepare for the hardest hit he had ever received from Sango, even Miroku had never been hit that hard. “You dumbass what were you thinking Kagome was up all night and in tears looking for you, what in the hell were you thinking?!?” Screamed an angered Sango. “She was the one kissing Sesshomaru not me!!” Retorted Inuyasha. “You saw that!?” Kagome asked astonished. “Inuyasha I didn’t, I just… I don’t love him.” She blurted out. “I don’t care you kissed him!” Inuyasha growled back at her, and once again he had made Kagome cry, although this time she ran past him and into the forest. She ran to the Sacred tree where they first met. “Inuyasha if you don’t go after her I will kill you!” Sango stated and Inuyasha knew she wasn’t lying, so he went after her.

     Kagome stood looking at the Sacred tree; she climbed up and felt the place where Kikyo’s arrow had bound Inuyasha to that tree. “Why, why do I still love him? After everything, after every tear shed for him why do I still love him?” She said this aloud, and finally after everything she made Inuyasha cry. “I’m sorry, so sorry Kagome, I never meant to do any of it to you…” She spun around so quick she lost her balance and sprained her ankle. She hobbled over to Inuyasha and hugged him, she could feel his hot tears staining her clothes but she didn’t care. “I love you Kagome” Inuyasha managed to get out between sobs. He stood up and gathered Kagome in his arms. He brought her back to the waiting Sango and Miroku, and finally in front of them, Inuyasha kissed Kagome. Kagome felt the passion in his kiss and that was all she needed.

     Inuyasha came back home to live with Kagome, he stayed a half demon and had the necklace removed by Kagome. Although the night that Inuyasha first kissed her, that night he brought her to a mountain where the stars shown like her tears, and the moon held her beauty, and there siloughetted in the moon light he kissed her once more.
